Jonas Clark Merricks, Jr. was born on April 30, 1953, in Clearwater, Florida to Jonas Clark Merricks, Sr. and Dorothy Merricks.

Jonas graduated from Clearwater High School in 1972 and was employed with Duke Energy for 34 years, retiring in 2014 as a Troubleman.

He was a member of the IBEW and Oak H ill Church of God In Christ, Tarpon Springs, Florida. Jonas loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great -grandchild, and his entire family as a whole. He lived life for them. He would engage in longwinded conversations with family and friends. Jonas loved family vacations and looked forward to them every year. He loved the Miami Dolphins.

Jonas Clark Merricks, Jr. transitioned from this earthly life to his eternal home on September 4, 2023, Clearwater, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonas Clark Merricks, Sr. and Dorothy Merricks, sisters, Yvonne McCray and Ruth Carter and father-in-law, Deacon Nathaniel Crawford, Sr.
