Billy Gene Fowler was born December 14, 1950, in Kings Mountain, North Carolina to the late Andrew Fowler and Inez Oates Fowler. He began his eternal life departing Caromont Regional Medical Center on September 8th, 2023.
He began his career with the United State Air Force as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, ending his service with the rank of Sergeant. After working for several local companies Billy became a restaurant entrepreneur of 1910 Pizza Company before returning to his first profession working with large machines at Daimler Trucks North America where he retired after 19 years.
Billy truly never met a stranger and was known as the peacemaker in the family. Family and friends can all share a time he provided a helping hand or moral support. Either with a pizza or two, making sure light bills and gas money was available, or just being present as sounding board.
Preceded in death by his wife Sylvia Davenport Fowler, sister Lois Fowler and brother Jerry Fowler. He leaves cherished memories with his sister Pearl Fowler of Kings Mountain NC, and four sons, James “Boo” Fowler (Manuela), of Germany, Torrance “TJ” Fowler of Kings Mountain, NC, Stegman Z Thompson of Syracuse, NY, Donnie Davenport (Twanette) of Shelby, NC, eleven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 4:00 PM at S. T. Enloe Memorial Chapel. Burial with military rites will follow at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:30 PM until 4:00 PM at the chapel and then at other times at 120 Haven Drive in Kings Mountain.
