Obituary For Cassandra Caesar

Cassandra Allegra Caesar was born on August 11, 1969, and she transitioned to her heavenly home on September 6, 2023. She began leaving a legacy of inspiration, dedication, and resilience at a very young age generously giving all she had to create moments and memories.

During her time at Valdosta High School, she was a talented basketball player and track and field star, still holding two records for the school. She continued playing basketball throughout college while she pursued her degree in telecommunications. Upon graduation, she began her career as a lifelong educator in Brooks County Schools and later moved to Valdosta City Schools. In both school systems, she was named Teacher of the Year for her outstanding commitment to education and her investment in young people. She will forever be remembered as a dedicated educator who was willing to go the extra mile for the success of a young person.

She was known by many names including Ms. Caesar, Yammie, Allegra, Auntie, Goddie, Yank, and Caesar. She always poured out love, light, and a loud scream if you scared her.

Cassandra is preceded in death by her grandparents, Russell and Minnie Gibson Ceasar; her mother, Anna Jean Ceasar; her aunts, Charlie Mae Sanford, Mary Lucy Coes, Devoria Ceasar, Beverly Johnson, Pearlie Lipscomb, Geraldine Greene, and Gladys McClain; and her uncle, Norman Ceasar.

To continue her legacy of generosity and love, Cassandra is survived by her father, Joseph Bell; her sister, Alesia Burton (Samario); her niece, Asja Burton; her nephew, Malik Burton; her uncle, Samuel Ceasar; the Magnolia Street Crew; and a host of cousins and many special friends whom she adored and loved deeply.

To all Cassandra encountered, they met as strangers and departed as friends.

Ms. Caesar! I am glad to have been able to be taught by you and become one of your colleagues. It was my mission to honor you at a home track invitational this coming season and we talked about it frequently; even though I know you did not want me to do so because it was not your nature to be put in the spotlight. You were a true inspiration and kept us laughing. I will miss you dearly! You are the REAL O.G. (I reminded you of this frequently)
