Obituary For Mr. Jerry L. Stevenson

In profound sorrow we announce the passing of Mr. Jerry L. Stevenson. Celebration of Life will be Saturday, September 16, 2023 11:00am at Grissom-Clark Eastlake Chapel. Viewing will be Friday, September 15, 2023 1:00pm-6:00pm. Jerry Lee Stevenson was born September 6, 1959, to the late Rufus Nathan Stevenson and to Ruth Smith Stevenson in El Paso, Texas. He was the middle of three children born of this union. On September 2, 2023, Jerry, at the age of 63 years old, earned his wings as he transitioned peacefully. He now rests with his Father, Rufus Stevenson, and sibling, Michael Stevenson.

Jerry accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He was baptized at Pilgrim Travelers Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA.

Jerry received his early education in the Atlanta Public School System. He graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in 1977.

Jerry was employed by Scalini's Italian Restaurant and at Phipps Plaza as a Security Supervisor. He was also very skillful, loved building and was very handy.

Jerry met and married Bonita Roberts on August 5, 1989, and from this union three daughters were born: Sadia, Sadell and Oyemi. He was a great “Girl Dad” and loved and supported them into adulthood.

Jerry leaves to cherish his loving memory, his mother, Ruth Stevenson, his daughters, Sadia Burton (Marvin), Sadell Stevenson, Oyemi Stevenson, his brother, Robert Stevenson (Tina), his grandchildren, Jeremiah Jean-Gilles, Kyla Stevenson, Riley Woodruff, Kaiden Stevenson, Amar Cohen and Ramello Stevenson and a host of nieces, cousins, and friends.

Jerry, we love and thank you for all that you were and all that you gave. May you now have peace and rest. The love and light that you brought will forever shine within our hearts. As you go forth from this world, know that you are loved beyond measure, that you will be missed more than words can say, and you will be remembered and cherished for a lifetime.

The family would like to express our most sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff at Reliable Health and Rehabilitation Center and Harbor Grace Hospice in Atlanta, Georgia who cared for our dearest Jerry.
