Mr. David Albritten, 62, of Oxnard, California was born in Dawson, Georgia, to the late Bernice and Theodis Albritten, Sr. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence Albritten, Lamar Albritten, and Theodis Albritten Jr., along with a nephew Micah Albritten. On Sunday, August 20, 2023, God in his infinite wisdom saw the need to call his angel home.
Celebration of life service for those in Oxnard, CA was Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 12 Noon in Bethel AME Church, 855 South F Street Oxnard, CA 93030
Homegoing service will be Friday, September 8, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. in Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1010 Old Pretoria Road, Albany, Georgia 31701. Interment will follow in the churches cemetery.
David was educated in the public school system of Albany and was a graduate of Monroe High School, Class of 1978. At a young age, he worked at Western Sizzlin’ Steak House where he perfected the art of preparing steaks. He also worked for Firestone Tire Company and National Package Store. In 1986 he married his high school sweetheart Kathi Elaine Clark and moved to Oxnard, California in 1988. He attended St. Paul Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Broderick Huggins.
David was employed at C&R Clothiers/Men’s Wearhouse for 20 years. His enthusiasm, resilience, and confidence were evident as David always earned the title of top salesman. David presented himself with an impeccable appearance on and off the job and earned the title of Manager of Men’s Wearhouse in Oxnard, California. After his tenure at Men’s Wearhouse, David was employed by Shoreline Care Center as Sales Marketing Director until his retirement.
David enjoyed all sports and loved Barbecuing, which earned him a 1st Place trophy in a Bar-B-Que cook-off. He enjoyed cooking full-course southern meals for his wife and spending quality time with close family and friends. He was known for his contagious laugh and bubbly personality. David never met a stranger. Every day he would always say good morning and have a nice day to everyone in the neighborhood. He loved all the kids in his life and there was nothing that he wouldn’t do to make a positive and lasting impact on their lives. David was known for his swag and debonair style.
David leaves to cherish his memories his loving and caring wife of 37 years, Kathi Clark Albritten; two sisters, Laura Albritten and Juanita Albritten of Albany, GA, six brothers, Herbert Dennard of Atlanta, GA, Josephus Albritten of Dawson, GA, Bobby Albritten (Patsy) of Grayson, GA, Daniel Albritten (Melissa) of Albany, GA, Marion Albritten of Oxnard, CA, and Myron Albritten (Diane) of Albany, GA, a very special Aunt who is like a mother, Juanita Epps of West Palm Beach, FL, two goddaughters, Jazzelena Cowling (Caleb) their children Nya Belle and Iverson of Colorado Springs, CO, Cynthia Griffin (Jimmie) and their son Trey, one godson Niagle Chatman of Oxnard, CA, brothers-in-law, Hollis Clark (Angela) of Athens, GA and Carlton Clark (Katrina) of Albany, GA, sisters-in-law Sharon Cooper and Teresa Clark of Albany, GA; nieces and nephews Larry (Tiger), Kimberly, Porsha, Darion (Cynthia), Uteaka (Justin), Tori, LaPorsha, Roger, Carlette, Evoyea, Montreal, Tarnell, Bobby, Alleyah, and Nia (Tseliso) and a host of great nephews, great nieces, cousins, family, and friends.
