The funeral services for the late Mr. Milton Mills, Jr., who departed this life on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Taylor County Health & Rehabilitation Center in Butler, Georgia, will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 12:00 Noon from the Whole Truth Ministries in Americus, Georgia. Reverend Eddie Alford, Sr. will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the East View Cemetery in Americus, Georgia. The remains will lie in state for viewing/visitation on Tuesday evening, September 5, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 281 Mask Road, Americus, Georgia.
Mr. Milton Mills, Jr. was born on April 26, 1978 in Sumter County, Georgia to the parentage of Mr. Milton Mills, Sr., and Mrs. Peggy Chever.
Milton was educated in the Sumter County Public School System. After graduating from high school, Milton work at Ryan’s Steakhouse in Americus, Georgia, and later at Cooper Lighting until his health began to fail.
At an early age, Milton gave his life to Christ and joined the New Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Plezy Nelson.
Milton had many nicknames: “Lil-Jug”, “Booman”, “Pokie”, “Mills”.
On Tuesday, August 29, 2023, Milton transitioned from this life to Eternal Rest at the Taylor County Nursing Home of Butler, Georgia. His grandparents, Albert and Nanette Mills, Eugene and Frankie Mae Griffin, his aunts, Grace Lucky, Freddie Mae Thomas, his uncles, Tommy, Johnny, Eugene, Mack, Alford, Jimmie Mills, Sylvester Jones, and many cousins have all preceded him in death.
Milton leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, Shanterria S. Mills of Americus, GA; a grandson, Trevian Harris of Americus, GA; his mother, Peggy (Melvin) Chever of Cordele, Georgia; his father, Milton Mills, Sr. of Plains, GA; two sisters, Nikita (Jorish) Bass of Americus, GA, Jennifer Mills of Cordele, GA; a brother, Derrick Mills of Americus, Georgia; his aunts and uncles, Albert (Sara) Mills of Andersonville, GA, Jacob (Eleanor) Mills, Nanette (Donald) Cunningham, both of Atlanta, GA, Bertha (Melvin) Little, Vivian (Otis) Alford, Sally Mills, all of Plains, Georgia, Martha Alford, Katherine Jones, Vivian Grover, Mandy (Fred) Jones, all of Americus, GA, Kelvin Griffin of Americus, GA, Annie Jewel Wright of Cobb, GA; two “Aunties”, Vivian P. Griffin, Francis Griffin, both of Americus, Georgia; a host of nieces and nephews; Marquis (Khandyce) Hall, Sr., CaSandra McClure, both of Atlanta, GA, Kyliyah Cornwell of San Diego, CA, NyKerriah Ballard, Nikaylen Ballard, Daylen Mills, Khyari Mills, Amoni Wiggins, all of Americus, GA, Elijah Cornwell, Joslyn Mills, Riley Kendrick, all of Cordele, GA; a great niece and nephew, Irie Hall, Marquis Hall, Jr. both of Atlanta, GA; a devoted friend, Miranda Smith of Americus, GA,; and a host of cousin, other relatives and friends.
