Mrs. Young was a wonderful person with the heart of a teacher. I was in her Sophomore English class. She was so genuinely kind. I learned some valuable life lessons from her as well as English. She sent me a thoughtful note when I opened my practice in Carthage. She told me how proud she was of me. I hope she knew how impactful her life was on so many of us (her students). Go rest high, Mrs. Young! We were blessed to have you! Prayer to the family, Dr. Cristy Glover Stumb

I would like to share a memory I cherish of Ms. Young. She assigned a poem for us to memorize and recite to the class while standing behind her lectern. Having come to SCHS from a small country school, she could see that I was terrified. She asked me if I would like to stand by my desk and hold my closed literature book in my hands. I learned important life lessons from her that day-kindness, compassion, and empathy. Thank you, Ms. Young. Ann Royster-White

She was my English teacher in high school. I helped her grade papers in my free period. She was also my mother's teacher when schools weren't integrated. She taught me more than English. She was harder on some select students because she expected and demanded more of them. Thank you Ms Young for the education and the integrity!! You will be missed!!

She was a delight to be around. I did not have her in class but my locker was by her classroom door for almost all of high school. She always smiled & asked how my day was going. She and my brother, Frank, exchanged comical barbs on a daily basis. He adored her. She was a fine jewel. Debbie Gibbs Hailey

Mrs. Young was the sweetest, kindest person. Ricky still talks about her car. I think he was always looking out the window at it instead of paying attention. My locker was right outside her door and she would get on to Ricky and me if she thought we might be standing a little too close! We loved her! Our condolences to the family.

Mrs. Young was my sophomore and junior English teacher at SCHS. She called me to her desk one day and asked me why I picked Uncle Tom's Cabin to write my book report about.
