Obituary For Joe Louis Pye

Joe Louis Pye, 76, of Knoxville, Tennessee departed this life on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital. He was born on March 9, 1947 in Canton, GA to the union of Robert L. Pye, Sr. and Mable Geneva Johnson-Pye both of whom preceded him in death.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Pitts-Pye; two brothers, David and Robert Pye; and two sisters Minnie Pye Reid and Priscilla Pye-Taylor.

He leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Darin Bailey and Todd Pitts; one brother Edmond Pye; four sisters Maggie Cherry, Sylvia Wyatt, Darlene Delee (Tony) and Mary Giles.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Unity Mortuary, with the Celebration of Life Service to follow and 1:00 p.m.

The final resting place will immediately follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery. A dove release will conclude.
