Obituary For Jerard K. Casimere

OPELOUSAS - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA for Mr. Jerard K. Casimere, 57, who entered eternal rest on Friday, August 18, 2023 in River Ridge, LA, after an intensive month long battle with cancer. Interment will be Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.

Fr. Justin Arockiasamy, S.V.D., will be officiating the funeral mass assisted by Deacon Charles Richard.

Mr. Casimere was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church. He was also a member of the New Orleans Saints Club and the Attakapas Nation. He was a 1983 Graduate of Opelousas Senior High School. In 1983 to 1987 he attended Southern University of Baton Rouge to complete his educational career. When asked what he would do after completing his education, he replied “He wanted to be of service to others.” He would find his niche in the transportation industry servicing the “Fun Industry”, at Gold Medal Concessions where he was employed for over 18 years. If you visited a theatre in Opelousas, Lafayette, New Iberia and other cities in and around Southwest Louisiana, Texas or Mississippi, chances are your popcorn and beverages were provided by Jerard! Prior to that he worked in the recycling industry servicing Tulane University & Hospitals and Ochsner Hospital.

Mr. Casimere’s memories are being cherished by: his fiancée, Stephanie Lane of Metairie, LA; his mother, Isabella Broussard Casimere Thompson of Opelousas, LA and his step father, Frederick Dobard, Sr. of New Orleans, LA; two sons, Jarell Casimere of Houston, TX and Kwame (Amber) Vallien of Killeen, TX; one step son, Blake Bennett of Metairie, LA; two brothers, Joseph Russell (Sarah) Cassimere of Opelousas, LA and Mark Reginald (Ann) Casimere of Katy, TX; one grandson, Kian Vallien of Killeen, TX; an uncle, Willis R. (Rose) Broussard of Opelousas, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by: his father, Joseph Russell Casimere Arceneaux; paternal grandparents, Alice Casimere Preston and Theodore Preston; and his maternal grandparents, Ezola Amos (Singleton) Broussard and Leon Broussard.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. A rosary will be held at 8:45 a.m.

Karter Casimere loved her great uncle jerard . She will always remember the times y'all had . She told me in honor of him she wants to do something every year . Always remember never forgotten!

I was 19 when I meet Mr. Jerard me and cj went to visit his family. Jerard was kind , welcoming and cool to be around . He got us movies tickets and said now don't get into trouble. Lol. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Everyone will be in my prayers. Love y'all
