Linda Kay Adkins, 72 of Anson, Texas passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023 in Midlothian, Texas.

Graveside services will take place, August 19th, at 11:00 A.M. at Tage Cemetery in Bowie, Texas with Tim Truby officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service at 9:00 A.M. at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, TX.

Linda was born in Abilene, Texas on October 2, 1950 to Benjamin and Pauline (Colclazer) Higgins. She was a graduate of Anson High School (1969) in Anson, Texas and continued her education at Tarleton State University (1975) in Stephenville, Texas. She married Virgle “Butch” Drake on June 29, 1973 and was widowed in 1979. Linda was a professional school teacher for 25 years in Odessa, Texas, for Ector County ISD, primarily at Noel Elementary. She married Curtis Adkins on March 17, 1990. She retired in 2004 and moved to Breckenridge, Texas to enjoy retirement with her husband Curtis. In 2014 she moved to Ellis County to be closer to family.

Linda had a passion for reading books and a talent for cross stitching. She was friendly, social, and quite the story teller. She enjoyed country music, country dancing, and riding bulls in her younger years. Linda was an amazing cook and enjoyed family gatherings.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Virgle “Butch” Drake (d. 1979) and second husband, Curtis Adkins (d. 2008).

Linda is survived by her son, Benjamin Drake and wife Kezia of Waxahachie, TX; step-children, Larry Adkins and wife Rocio of Fort Worth, TX, David Adkins and wife Raynette of Denver, CO, and Cindi Cross and husband David of Denver, CO; sisters, Dorthey Kreger and husband Garland of Cibolo, TX and Helen Radde of Sterling City, TX; grandchildren Benjamin “Anson” Drake, Katie Drake; step-grandchildren Zachary Adkins, Lynzie King, Erik Adkins, and Adam Adkins.
