Obituary

Carolyn Hollis Hudson was born on January 8, 1943 in Thomasville, Georgia. She attended Washington Street High School and graduated with the Class of 1960. Afterwards, she moved to Chicago, Illinois and later settled in Rochester, New York. While there, she attended culinary arts and nursing school. She was of Jehovah Faith.

Carolyn met her husband, Roy Hudson and to this union, three children were produced; Kenneth T. Hudson, Tanisha R. Hudson and Tamara Hudson Varnado.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother Mrs. Ida Mae Thompson, her father Charlie Hollis; M. Richardson, Hollis Thompson; sisters Diane Miller, Patricia Hardy; brothers Johnnie Hollis (Buddy), Pastor Michael Thompson and Johnnie (Peanut) Thompson.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children, one son Kenneth Hudson; two daughters Tanisha Hudson, Tamara (Blair) Varnado; two brothers Larry Thompson (Debbie), Quitman, GA, Donnie Thompson (Ingrid), West Germany; sister Ernestine Hollis, Rochester, NY, Martha Ware (Donnie), Quitman, GA; sister-in-law Samantha Thompson; one grandson she raised like her own son Jalonnie P. Rhim; one living aunt who is 105 years old Mrs. Gladys Simmons, Quitman, GA; nine grandchildren Jalonnie Rhim (Jessica), Alexandeer Kellum, Kendal Nathan, Khalik Hudson, Nasir Nathan, Masani J. Kellum, Harley Kellum, Thierry E. Varnado and Cara L. Varnado; three great grandchildren Nova Lynn Nathan, Adin H. Carter and Harlee Carter; stepdaughter Wanda Dixon; very, very special friends Mary Nix, Marie Davis (Spence), Nina Alexander and Beverly Simmons who really cared and took care of her; they were friends until the END; Tracey Hudson, Dericka Johnson, Brian Hudson and a host of other relatives and friends.


Visitation will be Friday, August 11, 2023 at the Stevens-McGhee chapel from 4PM-7PM.
