Annie B.(Burnett) Goodrum Wright, 89, born March 2, 1934, departed this life peacefully Monday, July 31, 2023, at her home. A long-time resident of Baton Rouge. Ann retired in 2003 after teaching over 30 years in EBR Parish School system. Visitation Friday, August 18, 2023, Hall's Celebration Center, 9348 Scenic Highway, Baton Rouge, LA., 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm. The Top Ladies of Distinction Ceremony will be at 5:30 pm followed by the Delta Omega Omega Ceremony at 6:00 pm, and friends and family reflections at 6:30 pm. Visitation continues Saturday, August 19, 2023, 10:00 am at First Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 575 Education Street, Baton Rouge, LA. Religious service will follow at 11:00 am, officiated by Reverend Henry J. Brown.
With the heart of a willing servant Ann was active with the Southern Heights Neighborhood Association, Baton Rouge Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Top Ladies of Distinction Nonpareil Chapter, Phi Delta Kappa, Silhouettes of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Tourgee DeBose Foundation, Life Development Foundation and the Vernon Williams and Cas-Tals Bridge Clubs.
Survived by daughters, Patricia G. Wright, and Rosalind L (Sherman) Moore; sons Ralph, Harold (Ruth) Wright and Derek; sister Daisy (James) Geartin; sister-in-law Betty Goodrum; nieces and nephews Deborah (James) Ford, Kimberly (Ivory) Bonville, Rebecca (Tony) Stewart, Melinda Goodrum, Thomas and Brian Benton, Julius Buie and Lenny Bule, multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, grandnieces and grandnephews, and multiple cousins.
Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Lt. Col. Edward Sie Wright; parents, James and Nannie Posey Goodrum; daughter Sandra L. Fontenberry, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, tax deductible donations can be made payable to the Life Development Foundation, P.O.
