Mr. Donald Killins, 68, of Columbus, GA passed Tuesday, July 11, 2023 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. EST Saturday, July 15, 2023 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home. Burial will take place on Monday, July 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. EST at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL.

Donald Bernard Killins was born May 12, 1955, in Ocala, FL to the late Susie Long and the late Dan Killins, Jr.

He was a graduate of Edgewater High School in Orlando, FL where he was actively involved in sports, dedicated to football. He served in the United States Navy for over nine years as a Radio Communicator.

Donald enjoyed employment as a cook for most of his life. His last job was with L&S food services in Ft Benning, GA before retirement. He was a licensed ordained pastor, who served faithfully at Hallelujah Praise and Worship Center, Inc. as Co-Pastor until his death. He truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as cooking, taking photos, collecting historical artifacts, traveling, and chatting with friends and family. He was very passionate about ministry and serving others. He spent relentless hours giving back to the community by serving SACVET (South Atlantic Center for Veterans Education and Training), The House of Mercy and Quia’ Kitchen’s ministries.

Mr. Killins was beloved by many and never met a stranger. Many affectionately called him “Papa D”, even those not related to him. He was a faithful servant of God who shared a kind word to everyone he met.

He was preceded in death by bonus children, Roderick (Brandy) Toombs and Phenequia (Chavis) Bell.

He leaves behind wonderful memories to his dedicated wife, Valerie Killins; children, Victoria Thompson (Timothy), Joshua Thomas, and Caleb Killins; bonus children, Sonya Coore (Douglas), Jeremy Jones, Gladys Toombs, and Tommie Smith (Tanesha); sisters, Cheryl Washington, Angela Killins, Tracey Killins, and Brenda Killins; brothers, Dan Killins, III and Jeffrey (Nina) Killins; mother-in-law, Alberta Johnson; brothers-in-law, Jerome Jones and Joseph Bates; sister-in-law, Daphne (Armond) Aisola; aunt, Essie (Oscar) Brown, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and Members of Hallelujah Praise and Worship Center Inc.
