Mrs. Murphy was my 2nd Grade Teacher at Godette Elementary School, Havelock, NC, in 1957. We all loved her as our teacher, and she was excellent at instilling the love of education in us as students during the "Jim Crow" era of segregation in Craven County, NC. She encouraged all her students to do their best in their studies and future lives as adults. She always had a beautiful, warm smile for all her students, at school or in our community.
