Mr. John T. Morrison, 71, of Attalla, AL, passed away on June 24, 2023.
The Obituary
Mr. John Thomas Morrison was born on September 20,1951 to the late Mr. James Morrison, and the late Mrs. Flora Lee Miller Morrison in Taylorsville, North Carolina.
He confessed Christ at an early age as his personal Lord and Savior. Upon moving to Attalla, Alabama he was baptized and became a member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. W. H Granger. He remained a faithful member on the Usher Board and Missionary Society until his health failed.
He was educated in the Alexander County Public School District in Taylorsville, North Carolina. He was a graduate of Happy Plains High School in Taylorsville, NC.
SSGT John Thomas Morrison was a drill sergeant stationed at Fort McClellan, Alabama from 1977-1997. His primary military occupation was Ground Surveillance Radar specialist. This job required Sergeant Morrison to plant movement detection equipment behind enemy lines. During his military career Sgt. Morrison was stationed at various army bases around the world. Sergeant Morrison was stationed at Fort Huachuca, AZ, Fort Stewart Georgia, Fort McClellan, AL. Fort Richardson, Alaska and Germany.
Staff Sgt. Morrison served 20 years in the active army. From 1977 until 1997.
On December 25, 1985 he was united in holy matrimony to his soulmate. Mrs. Rosella Williams Morrison. God blessed them with the joy of their life on April 30, 2013. On this day, their beautiful daughter, Serenity Rose JaElla Morrison was born.
Mr. John T Morrison departed this life on Friday, June 23, 2023 after an extended illness at Rehab Select at Talladega Health Care, Talladega Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Jobie (Lucille) Milsap. His grandson; Mr. JaMichael Howard; His brothers Mr. David Morrison and Mr. Marqus Morrison, His mother and father-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Roy (Janie Mae) Williams Sr; His sister-in-law, Mary Jo Wilson; His brother-in-laws, Mr. Samuel Wilson, Mr. John Lewis Williams and his aunt, Mrs. Ella Mae Giles, His great-grandson LaSamuel Missika
J.T leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Mrs. Rosella Morrison; two sons, Wilbert Howard and LaShannon D’Antonino Wilson, both of Attalla, AL; one daughter, Serenity Morrison; six grandchildren, JaJuan (Kristin) Howard, Jonathan Howard, Shuntara (Raheem Gibbs), Breanna Wilson (Becko) LaShannon Wilson, and Jasmine WIlson; Nine great grandchildren; siblings, Eric Miller, Texas, Loretta Miller, Taylorsville N.C., Joyce Wilds, Charlotte, N.C., Aunt, Ms. Mary Clark, Winston-Salem, N.C.; Brother-in-law, Rev. Roy (Yvonne) Williams Jr.; Sister-in-laws;,Mrs. Janie (Herbert) Childs, Mrs. Loretta (Pastor Willie) McCloud. Special friends, Bro. Bobby Wyane Simpson and Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Sellers and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Public Viewing will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 from 2pm-6pm.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church at 2pm.
Interment: Monday, June 3, 2023 at the Alabama National Cemetery (3133 Hwy 119 / Montevallo, AL)
