Bernice Pitts was born in Abbeyville, GA on Feb. 9, 1943 to the late Buster and Naomi King Thomas. Bernice peacefully passed on June 10, 2023 in Cabarrus, NC
Bernice and her family moved to Sarasota, Florida where she quickly bonded with Dorothy Whigham.
She graduated from Booker High School in 1962. Bernice worked at Sears in Sarasota, Florida and Waldorf, Maryland where she retired after 32 years. Bernice joined Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church at the age of 12. She served in various ministries until she relocated to Waldorf, Maryland such as The President of Shiloh Matron's Ministry, Church School Superintendent for Shiloh, President of Manatee/Sarasota Choir's Union, President of So. Florida Primitive Baptist Association Union # 2 Matron's Ministry, President of So. Florida Primitive Baptist Association Matron's Ministry, Vice President of the Gospel Chorus in Shiloh, Shiloh Secretary for years.
Upon relocating to Maryland, she joined Cornerstone Peaceful Bible Baptist Church where she remained until moving to Charlotte NC and becoming a member of Zion Primitive Baptist Church in 2015. In 2019, she was appointed to the Mother Board and she assisted with Communions and Baptisms faithfully. Where she remained until her passing on June 10, 2023.
Bernice married Wyman Pitts Sr. and from that Union four children were born.
She leaves to celebrate her life: Children: Wyman Jr. (Pam), Wayman, Zena and Tonnja
Grandchildren: VonSha, ShaToya (Hussain), Rickey Jr, LeTrevis, Wayman (Mary), Wayman Jr, Nakita, Maegan (Nate), Nadia, Jas (Nico), Moriah, Amoris and Simone Great-Great Grandchildren: Samara, Shavon, Horatio, Rickey III, Taliyah, Andre, Joziah, Kaiyana, Milo, Noah, Hendrix, Alaija, Sa'Ryaih, Joshua, Ariana, DeAndre, Daniel and Taiwan Great- Great-Great Grand-daughter: Nova Sister-In-Law- Bernicher Thomas Nieces/Nephews: Earnestine, Jeffery Sr, ChaWaner (Freddie), Tyra, Frank Jr, ShaDora and Princess [Ersiel) Great Nieces/Nephews: Teena, April (Jeff), Naomi Lynn, Crystal, Kelvin, Rolanda (RJ), Jamaal, Kiera, Layla, Ashura, Trina, Yolanda, Jeffery Jr and Jeremy. Bernice had a special bond with several people that called her Mom, Grandma or Nana: Marjorie, Pat (Mary), Wanetta, Connie, Irene, Cynthia, Melissa, Audrey, Sharon, Tressie, Kim Kim, Joe, Kwai, Josiah, Ko-Ko, Brittney, Terry, Jill and a special cousin Robin. A host of other loving relatives and Friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Fri., June 16, 2023 at Jones Funeral Home. Services will be held 11:00am on Sat., June 17, 2023 at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will be held at Galilee Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Jones Funeral Home.
Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can't heal. To the Children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchild and entire family my prayers and condolences going out to you and may the Lord give you all the strength and comfort doing this time and days to come.
