Our dearly beloved, Co-Pastor Johnnie Mae Jackson-Williams, 71, gained her wings on Friday June 9, 2023. She was born in Columbus, Georgia on December 30, 1951.
Johnnie Mae early childhood education includes Oliver Elementary School and Sandfort High School, thereafter she attended Phillips College to become a Nurse. After working as a Flight Attendant for Delta Airlines for two years, she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Francis Hospital and retired from Columbus Hospice. While working at St. Francis Hospital, she was recognized in the Ledger Enquirer as being an “Outstanding Nurse”. She was also an entrepreneur - owned her own business, Mae’s Daycare.
Johnnie Mae attended St. Peter A.M.E Church at an early age. She accepted Christ at Ministries of Faith Church I, married the now belated, Pastor Martin A. Williams and became the Co-Pastor of Ministries of Faith Church II. While serving as the Co-Pastor, she ministered at nursing homes, jails, and fed the homeless.
Johnnie Mae was a loving, caring and giving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed fishing, shopping, listening to gospel music, bowling, and spending time with her family (hosting holiday dinners) was what she enjoyed most.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah and Joseph Toney (stepfather); brothers, John Henry Patrick and Frank Patrick; sister Fellesher Toney.
She leaves to mourn four children, Patricia Jackson, Taperther Cohen (Timothy), Charlene Jackson, and Martin A. Williams, Jr.; four grandchildren, Tashley Cohen, Chira Sandles, Tianna Cohen, and Quindarius Williams; two siblings, Mary A. Brundidge and Helen D. We all hope to have a mother-in law who is sincere and thoughtful. Mrs. Johnnie Mae Jackson-Williams welcome me into her family with open arms in the year 1995. She always made sure I was comfortable, and it was a great honor to spend time with her. My mother-in law was an example and inspiration to me and my family. She had much an impact in my life through her own life and through the life of her wonderful daughter, my wife(Taperther). She treated others with kindness and respect and many lives were blessed through her goodness....But even in grief, we know we are so lucky to have had this loving woman in our lives and, now, in our hearts forever. My heart is saddened by this loss, but I am committed to keeping her memory alive. Tim, Son-in-law
