Albert Ronald Wagstaff was born in Roanoke, Virginia on February 17, 1945, the youngest child of James and Carolyn Wagstaff. He graduated from Lucy Addison High School in 1963 where he played football and was President of the Choir. He graduated from Norfolk State University in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and was commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the US Army upon graduation. He served his country for 4 years and achieved the rank of Captain, serving as a Battery Commander in Korea. He married Peggy Dennis in 1971 and had one son, Robin James, born in 1972. He had a 30 year career as a Human Resources professional with Allstate, Marriott Hotels and other companies. “Pop” as he was called later in life was a member of World Changers Church International for over 30 years and was a born again believer. He was a family man who loved God, loved his family, loved to travel and loved sporting events including football games, basketball, baseball and drag racing. He was preceded in death by his parents James in 1963 and Carolyn in 1977 and his wife Peggy in 2018. He is survived by his son Robin and daughter-in-law Miko of Ocklawaha, Florida, his grandson Ronald of Richmond, Virginia, his sister Burmeta Marlin of Suffolk, Virginia, his nephew Robert Marlin, Jr. (Marina) of Chesapeake, Virginia and niece Sherry Oglesby (Terry) of Henrico, Virginia along with many cousins, family and friends.
