Obituary For Rosa Borders

Rosa Jackson Borders transitioned this life on May 16, 2023 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby, NC. She was born on March 3, 1935 in Cleveland County to Louise Jackson Wilson and George Oakes, both who preceded her death. She graduated from Cleveland High School and attended Cleveland Tech (Cleveland Community College) where she obtained her CNA certification. She began her career as a CNA at Cleveland Memorial Hospital and later was employed with PPG (Azdel). She retired at the age of 55 to continue her purpose and passion; fostering children. She opened her house to 20 + children over the years.

Rosa was a devoted member of Durham United Methodist Church, where she was a faithful usher. If you knew Rosa, you would see her reading faithfully during her spare time and being the life of the party. Up until she could not move freely, she enjoyed traveling the world and going to yard sales. Rosa lived a full and vibrant life in which she leaves behind so many cherished memories.

On January 1, 1953, she joined Charles William Borders in holy matrimony who also has preceded her in death along with her sister, Lulia Bonner. From that union came four children, the late Charles William Borders, Jr. ( the late, Sally), Christopher Jerome Borders, Jacqueline Borders Hoey (Bobby) and Valerie Borders Haynes (Vincent); two gifted children during infancy, Bruce Borders and Hakeem Borders; host of children that Rosa and Charles raised and nurtured, Isaac Logan (Donna), John Logan, Virgil Baccus, Santy Wood, Bobby Brooks Jr. and Dana Hopper and special God children, Jara McDowell, Linda Huskey (Johnny)and Keshia Spikes. She built a special bond between each one of her grandchildren, Deron Thompson, Torie Little (Lee), Vincent Haynes, Jr. Courtney Haynes and holding Melani Hoey and Tekeshia Borders sincerely special to her. She also leaves to mourn her sisters-in-law, Betty Manuel, Jennie Camp (Henry), Lena Mae Borders, (Joseph-deceased), Lillian Herring (Thomas-deceased), Bennie Borders (James-deceased); brother-in-law, Robert Borders; special friends, Dorothy Mask and Ruby Spikes. She also leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren all whom she called her pride and joy; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
