Curtis Lee Johnson was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on September 24, 1962. He was the third child of four born to the late Clevell Wilson and Lillie Mae Johnson-Wilson. Early in his life, Curtis accepted Christ as his Savior at Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Andy Banks.
Curtis was joined in holy matrimony to Sharon Tyson Johnson on February 13, 2003. Together, they reared four beautiful daughters.
Curtis was a quiet, hard-working, God-fearing man who loved his family. He modeled the examples of his parents with an earnest, sincere dedication to his family, profession, and talents. For over 20 years, Curtis was employed with Regional One Health as a Sterile Processing Technician (SPD Tech) until his health failed.
A 1980 graduate of Northside High School, Curtis developed a God-given talent and love of drawing. As an adult, Curtis remained faithful to his artwork and was awarded many accolades. In addition to his artistry, he was also a true sports fan.
Due to an intense battle with cancer, Curtis’s health began to decline swiftly. Through God’s faithfulness, Curtis continued to persevere at home and work until his untimely passing. On April 22, 2023, at 12:00 pm at Methodist University Hospital, God whispered to Curtis, “Come and rest.”
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Sharon; four daughters, Areial Tyson, Terahas Tyson, Ebony Johnson, and Kirstin Johnson; 16 grandchildren, Christinana, Christian, Madison, Madilyn, Arieanna, Eryn, Tyran, Taylor, Terrion, Tia, Elise, Reginald Jr., Riyah, Reginae, Caydrian, and Kai; brother, Clevell Johnson (Antionette); sister, Linda Cameron; and aunts, Mary E. Scott and Callie Farmer. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews whom he loved, mentored, and supported through the years, and a host of relatives and friends.
