My Dearest Mrs. Brown, It has been years, even decades since our lives intermingled, but my youthful memories of your love, acceptance and kindness continues to, and will forever warm my heart. You and Mr. Brown were wonderful role models for so many during my youth. You, the ever devoted mom balancing your time between your teaching career and family, never neglecting either, excelling at both. Likewise, when so many men were absent from their homes, or present, but irresponsibly running in the streets, Mr. Brown was a pillar of quiet strength in his, always there, always providing, forever setting a wonderful example for his sons to follow as surely you did for your only daughter. Your children are living testaments of the lives you lived before them. By God's grace and your collective parenting, they have all done well. I apologize. I know this is supposed to be about you, Mrs Brown, but I have always thought of you and Mr. Brown as an inseparable team, true to your wedding vows, only separated by the inevitable. It is near impossible for me to imagine one of you without the other. Thus, I know it will be difficult for Mr. Brown going forward. May he find peace and rest in Christ at this time and in the coming days. He is truly in my prayers, as are Tyrone, Jackie, Dondie and the rest of your family. I can only imagine how much you will be missed. I learned of your passing the morning after the Lord gathered you unto Himself. The initial news was shocking, but I was totally unprepared for the sadness that ladened my heart throughout the day and the silent tears that occasionally distorted my vision. Jackie was my best friend from Nix Elementary School through high school, and will always hold a special place in my heart. Had it not been for your Jackie, I may have been an eternal introvert 🙂. Jackie and I met at Nix, in the 5th grade, right after my family moved to Orangeburg from NY. Our initial common ground were our names, which only differed by our middle initials. Jackie and I became fast friends. We put the "S" in Silly, the "R" in Ridiculous and the "O" in Obnoxious, but it was all in good fun. I must thank you and my mom for tolerating our crazy antics. I'm sure, at times, we were hard to bear. God bless you and receive you, Mrs. Brown. I will always remember you fondly. You are much loved. My prayers are with your family. ❣️Jackie R.
