Obituary For Meri Lynn Quigley

Meri Lynn Quigley, 91 of Bowie, TX, passed away April 21st, 2023 in Decatur, TX.

A graveside service was held Monday, April 24th, at Sunset Cemetery in Sunset, TX, with Rex Hamilton officiating.

Meri was born June 26th, 1931 in Tyler, TX. She worked as a waitress and Bell Telephone operator early in her life. Later she owned and operated “The Pet Stop”,a dog kennel in Carlsbad, NM during the late 80's and thru the 90's.

On February 3, 1964, in Fort Smith, AR, Meri married Joseph Quigley, Master Chief Radioman for the U.S. Submarine Service (United States Navy). The couple were together for 48 years, until Mr. Quigley passed away in 2012.

Throughout their lives, the couple lived in Sunset, TX from 1976 to 1987, before moving to New Mexico for 25 years, they then returned to Bowie in 2011. Joe and Meri were canteen managers of the old V.F.W. by the rail road tracks in Bowie for 2 years in the mid 80's. Meri loved God, family, and enjoyed gardening and writing poetry.

She is preceded in death by her son, Eric Von Hibpshman; husband Joseph Quigley, and recently her daughter, Carol June Quigley Quandt.

Meri is survived by her 3 sons, Dan Brossard of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Einrick Von Hibpshman of Tucson, AZ, and Joseph M. Quigley of Sunset, TX; six grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
