Findrix A. Bowers Jr. also known to many in the city of Nashville as "Camera Man" passed away Sunday, April 16th at the age of 77. For four decades, from his time at National Shirt Shops on 5th Ave in the late 60's to over 30 years with the state of Tennessee on Deaderick Street, Findrix captured the scenes of downtown Nashville and it's people through his uniquely fashionable lens. He could frequently be spotted in his favorite places around the city like the Nashville Arcade, Wolf Camera, popular night spots and at some of our biggest concerts photographing great R&B legends like Frankie Beverly and Maze, Luther Vandross, Brian McNight and more. No matter where it was, Findrix was easily recognized with camera in hand, dressed in a bold colored, highly stylish suit with matching shoes and brimmed hat doing what he loved; taking pictures. His memory will be forever cherished by his sister and brother Celia and Timothy Bowers, Children: Cassandra, James, and Findrix III, their mothers: Ms. Racine Felton and Mrs. Jacqueline Bowers, stepchildren: Tiffany (Latourous) Pritchett and Michael Jones, grandchildren: James Jr., Joshua, and Donovan, his nieces and nephew, and a host of cousins and close family friends. Funeral services will take place at Smith Funeral Directors 706 Monroe St, Nashville, TN 37208. (615)726-1476. Public viewing, Friday, April 28th, 2023 2-6pm. Family visitation, Saturday April 29 10-11am with Homegoing Service to follow. Please send floral arrangements to Smith Brothers. Many Blessings.

Abundant blessings to the entire family. My prayer is that every loved one will find something within their hearts to focus on the many blessings that he brought in his lifetime and the many blessings ahead because he was a part of your life. I know it's easier said than done. Give yourselves time to process. In the meantime, I will be in prayer for everyone.

God bless him and his family. Fendrix did my daughters wedding pictures some 20 years ago. I worked with his brother James Bowers at Stthomas Hospital at that time.

Cassandra and Donovan my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time of sorrow. It's so hard to say goodbye even though we have His blessed hope and reassurance that we will meet again on that "beautiful shore". I only got to meet your Dad briefly when he came to visit you at work, but I feel I knew him through you and the hilarious stories you would share!! Love y'all!! ❤️

I remember during my childhood I thought my father was really famous. It was not a place we would visit that someone did not know him by name or by "Camera Man" in Nashville, TN. I remember as a young child, we drove to Kentucky Fried Chicken to pick up dinner. I might have cried or complained because at the time, I did not like or eat chicken. So, he decided that he would stop by McDonalds to get something I enjoyed. We got to the drive-thru and the lady greeted us on the mic. My dad turned around and said, "Boo, what do you want"? In my innocent kiddie voice I said, "I want a Happy Meal with Nuggets". I remember him and his lady friend laughing so hard. That was the day I learned nuggets come from chickens :-) and it was a story he would often retell every time I came to visit. RIP Dad.
