Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18th at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, TX.

Glenda was born on December 10, 1937 in Hardeman County, Texas to Grady and Mildred (Stringer) Howie. She was the youngest of two children, and always looked up to her older sister and lifelong friend Donna.

Upon moving to Montague County in the 1940’s, it didn’t take long for Glenda to make new friends in her new school, and her outgoing personality and one of a kind laugh quickly made her a class favorite. She became an avid Jackrabbit fan for life and was voted 1954-55 Band Sweetheart. The 1956 edition of The Jackrabbit Yearbook is quoted as saying “Glenda is the life of our school,” and as a proud member of the class of 1956, Glenda remained a devoted “Jackrabbit Forever”, supporting the student athletes, bands, and theater students traveling to UIL competitions all over the state, while also dedicating much of her time to mentoring and tutoring many Bowie ISD students over the decades.

Glenda spent more than 33 years in the Banking industry, and her professionalism and kindness earned her devoted respect and lifelong friendships from colleagues and customers alike. She spent her life actively serving her beloved Bowie community by serving on the Bowie Chamber of Commerce, volunteering with Pregnancy Resource Center, Hospice of Rural Texas, The Bowie Mission, and was one of the founding Board Members of the Bowie Championship Pro Rodeo.

Glenda is perhaps best known for her deep love for her family and her faith. A Lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Bowie, Glenda has left her mark by serving across numerous boards, and committees, singing in the choir, preparing meals, and teaching Bible studies, but perhaps her greatest legacy of all, are the thousands of teenagers that she has ministered to in her over 40 years of service in teaching and ministering in the FBC Youth Department. Glenda never met a teenager that she could not connect with. Even when she was decades their senior in age, she found a way to build a heart connection, through her humor, her wit, and her love, even still traveling to youth camp with them well into her seventies. She personally led hundreds of young people to Salvation in Jesus Christ during her time in ministry, and even after she retired from the youth department, many of her former students would still stop by her home just for a visit, a hug, some words of wisdom, or just to let her know how much she had impacted their lives.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Linton Campbell; her infant daughter, Cynthia Sue Bratcher; son, Lee Henry Campbell; parents Grady and Mildred Howie; and her sister, Donna Williams.

Glenda is survived by her daughter Debbie Leonard and husband Mike, Bowie; son Linton D. Campbell Jr.,Bowie; grandchildren Kris Leonard and Elliott Reed, Bowie, Brandon Leonard and wife Mica, Ponder; Brennan Campbell and wife Victoria, Dubai; Jeffrey Todd Campbell, Austin; Sean Clark, Victoria; Morgan White and husband Randy, Flower Mound; numerous great-grandchildren as well as many, many friends and loved ones in the Bowie Community.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Bowie Youth Fund, The Bowie Mission, or to Hospice of North Texas in memory of Glenda Campbell.

Arrangements entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie, TX.
