His service is Noon, Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Trinity AME Zion Church.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Hargett, New Bern; son, Zahair Cherry, Kenner, LA; daughter, Antanasia Thompson, New Bern; Irlie Vann Hargett, New Bern, Anthony Leon Hargett, Tabor City, NC and Jerome Lovick, New Bern and Ashley Nilley; sisters, Deltra Suggs, Durham, NC, Nichelle Jenkins, Raleigh, NC, Roxie George, New Bern; two grandchildren.

Masks are Required.

This is a major loss for the Hargetts. I am sending my condolences 💐 to my family. So many memories since day one. Skimp was a comedian and loved to laugh. I will never forget that smile and him calling my little brother, "Doobus" and my oldest daughter when she was one, "She Devil." He swore she was bad. Skimp will truly be missed. This is a hard one; he is somewhere playing basketball and joking!

To the Hargette family, we the Smith/ Jones family pray for your Peace and Serenity. May the Lord God keep all of you close to him to build your up. Use him as your leaning post. "Skimp" will forever be missed, he was just like one of my birthed children. He would always be with the fellas saying some no choice words, but as soon as he realized that I was in the vicinity, he would say"Oh mama! I didn't know you were there, "please forgive, Please.
