B.P. I am at a loss for words right now. Your locker was across from mine and you made me feel welcome when I came to Auburn and was scared to death and praying no one could tell. You always had a smile and encouraging words, no matter where we were and even in the years after Auburn when we would see each other around town, it was always the same. We didn't talk much the last several years because I wasn't around there much but I know that no matter where we ran into each other it would still be the same. We ain't blood or from the same background but we were and still are brothers. Keep Coach straight up there until I get there to help you out. My heart and prayers go out to your family and friends as I know they are grieving your passing but I hope that they are rejoicing in the fact that you are with our Savior this glorious Easter morning. Love you my friend and a Heavenly War Eagle till we meet again. Chris Grantham Tiger '89-90

Bennie - I will never forget you, my friend. You were a big bold presence to everyone around you at Auburn. You were a leader but also a man with great compassion. You inspired me to work harder and be better. You had a great smile and laugh and made me feel welcome when I came back to the team. So many great memories and laughs in the weight room and practice field. Much love to your family. Your spirit lives on with everyone who came in contact with you. Vaya Con Dios - Ace Atkins

My heartfelt condolences go out to Bennie's entire family on this loss of a great teammate and a guy I was proud to call my friend. I was blessed to visit with him just a couple of weeks ago at our Lettermen gathering. Our daughters also played volleyball together a few years back at Auburn High, and it was always a joy to talk with him at the volleyball matches. #97 will always be remembered, and I will not stop praying for comfort and peace for his family.
