Christopher Dwayne Smith was born on July 22, 1970 to Delane Rorie and the late Barbara Smith in Union County, NC. Chris was raised by his loving grandparents, E. G. and Lora (Granny) Smith in Stanly County, NC.
He graduated from South Stanly High School in Norwood, NC. Chris attended First Baptist Church in Norwood as a child under the leadership of his great grandfather, Rev. C. C. Clark and later in the years joined Bennettsville AME Zion Church in Norwood, NC after which he became a member of the Trustee Board.
Chris enjoyed traveling, playing cards hanging out at the barbershop and spending time with his uncle, Munsuru and close friends and family. He also adored spending time with his grandchildren which brought him much joy and laughter.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Smith, his grandmother, Lora Smith, his brother, Scottie, his uncle (Vernice Rorie), his aunt (Carolyn S. Polk) and his maternal grandparents, E.G. and Lora Smith and paternal grandparents, Charlie and Margaret Rorie.
Christopher Dwayne Smith leaves to cherish his gentle and loving memories his children: Fonda Brown of Wadesboro, NC, Abreia Shankle of Winston-Salem, NC, Brandon Sturdivant of Oakboro, NC and Memphis Burton of Fayetteville, NC. Three grandchildren who were the apple of his eye, Ciunna, Travia and Taylan of Wadesboro, NC. His father, Delane Rorie (Linda) of Greenville, SC. Two brothers, Kevin Rorie (Kia) and Dennis Rorie (Candice).
A very special uncle whom he adored, Munsuru Ismail of Queens, NY. Three aunts, Emma Smith and Helen Rorie of Wadesboro, NC and Dianne Rorie of Peachland, NC. Three god-children, Scotesia, Beris and Jessica Dunlap. Four special cousins raised as brothers, Jeffery, Maurice, Russell and Timothy Polk. He also leaves to cherish his memories a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Services will be on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, 1:00pm, in the Chapel of Smith's Funeral Home, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will follow in the family plot of the Bennettsville AME Zion Church Cemetery, Norwood, North Carolina.
