Mr. James Cecil Bateman Sr. passed on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Trice Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 21, at 12:00 Noon at Trice Funeral Home Chapel Interment will be in O'neal Cemetery. Trice Funeral Home of Barnesville is in charge of all arrangements Please keep the Bateman family in prayer. A TIME TO BE BORN JAMES CECIL BATEMAN SR. was born in Barnesville Lamar County to Mr. J.C. Fletcher and the late Ms. Lillie Mae Bateman. He was educated in Lamar County School System. He played football and graduated from the Lamar County Comprehensive High School. A TIME FOR CHRIST James at an early age joined the Bethel Baptist Church. He later in life would Relocate to Griffin, GA. He attended various churches and was willing to offer his service to the Lord, He served in the Deacons Ministry and also as a Usher, when his health would allow him to. A TIME TO SERVE James served his country by way of joining the United States Army. He was known as a model soldier. After completing his service, he returned to Barnesville. He worked for Continental Tire Aldora Mill first as a Security Officer. Then he entered into the facility as a ICBT operator. He retired with 28 years and 7 months of service on February 1, 2013. A TIME FOR FAMILY James met and married Ms. Alice Faye Few on September 28, 1985. They were united in holy matrimony. To this union two children were born. Ms. Alice Bateman preceded him in death in 2014. He was known as a prankster. He love his guns, fishing, spending time at the movies, and family gatherings. He had a fascinating way of showering his love on his grandchildren. He spent countless hours grilling and planting flowers. He also shared his home to foster children. A TIME TO MOURN James was preceded in death by his only sibling Betty Kirvin. The Lord whispered James name and called him home. While his transition has saddened our hearts, he has gone from labor to reward. He completed this earthly journey on March 15, 2023.

A TIME TO CHERISH James has left a lifetime of memories in the heats of his children: Ms. Sheena Murphy of Barnesville, Mr.. James (Liakendra) Cecil Bateman Jr., and Ms. Jacqueria Bateman both of Griffin; is father: Mr. J.C. Fletcher of Atlanta; grandchildren, Jonathan Murphy, Brenden Murphy, Elijah Price and Caesar Price; Aunts: Gloria Hardesty and Bernice Creath; A nephew he loved as his own Joshua Few, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
