Obituary For Samuel Gordon Burgess, III

Samuel G. Burgess, III, 51, of Willie Craig Rd., Bassett departed this life on Monday, March 13, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Eden, NC on December 12, 1971, the son of Samuel Burgess, Jr., and the late Norma Jean Foster Burgess.

Samuel was a member of Mayo Missionary Baptist Church and attended Shippers Choice Trucking School. He was a 1990 graduate of Magna Vista High School.

Those left to cherish his memory include his father, Samuel Burgess, Jr. of Ridgeway, VA; one son, Samuel Burgess, IV of Cascade, VA; step-daughter, Ashiana Williams of Cascade, VA; one brother, Travis Burgess (Angie) of Greensboro, NC; three sisters, Stephanie Wade (Gregory), and Tonya Burgess both of Ridgeway, VA, and Felicia Smith of Axton, VA; two grandchildren, Adrian and Asher Williams both of Cascade, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. at Mayo Missionary Baptist Church, 3554 Horsepasture Price Rd., Ridgeway, VA with Pastor Dwight Mack, Eulogist. Burial will follow at Mayo Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. A public viewing will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Stephanie, and Gregory Wade, 529 Grand Lakes Dr., Ridgeway.
