William Elijah "Pete" Hargett Jr., 67 of 1810 McKinley Avenue, New Bern passed Saturday, March 4, 2023 at CarolinaEast Medical Center.
Viewing hours are Friday until 6:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Oscar's Mortuary.
His service is 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 12, 2023 at St. Luke AME Zion Church, Maysville. The interment will follow at White Oak Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Stang Hargett of the residence.; two sons, William E. Hargett III and Arkeen R. Hargett both of New Bern; two brothers, Robert Hargett, Norfolk, VA and Clarence Hargett, New Bern; two sisters, Rebecca Holloway, Raleigh, NC and Gwendolyn Saunders, New Bern; three grandchildren.

Uncle Pete was a good man. Even though I wasn't related by blood he treated me like family. I'll never forget my conversations with him about the Navy, fishing, and life in general.
