Obituary For Brenda Gail Dixon Buie

Brenda Gail Dixon Buie was born on October 3, 1946, in Clearwater, Florida. She was the youngest of 13 children from the union of Mack and Mellow Dixon. Brenda attended the schools of Pinellas County, graduating from Pinellas High School, Class of 1964. She played the clarinet in the band and was on the girls’ basketball team. After graduation, Brenda continued her education at Clark College in Atlanta, Georgia from 1964 to 1966. Brenda was married in 1970 to Andrew Buie, but after the dissolution of that union, she returned to the Clearwater area, where she worked at a local bank. She eventually settled in Largo, Florida and spent most of her adult life working as an agent for Atlanta Life Insurance Company.

Brenda was a dedicated Mother and a member of Bethany Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. She was not one to just settle for attending church, she served the Lord through work. She was a leader with the Laity, Steward Board, Missionary Board, Board of Christian Education, Sunday School, Senior Choir and served as a friend to all. While she held various offices overs the years, she served as a resource whenever and wherever needed. One of her joys was engaging the community through work at Accounting Taxes & More, Inc. as a tax accountant. She was a fierce supporter of raising knowledge about the African American History in the Clearwater area.

On February 17, 2023, at 9:23 a.m., Brenda took her final breath with her children each holding her hand. While Brenda has left this world, she rejoiced with her Heavenly Father. Joy to her ears to hear “Welcome, thy good and faithful servant”.

Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Mellow Dixon, siblings, Bobby Dixon, Charles Dixon, Inez Dixon-Rayner, Deloris Wilson, Bettye Dwight, Audrey Myrick, Maxine Dixon, Margaret Algee, Hershell Dixon and Janette Dixon Hamilton and spouse, Andrew Buie.

So sorry to hear of Brenda passing. While we had not kept in physical touch in recent years, we grew up next door to each other and always considered each other as friends maintaining contact on Facebook since we live in different states. May Gods' richest blessings be with her family.
