On Monday, February 27, 2023, Sonya Tirrell Reid, 45, of Collinsville transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at her residence. She was born in Virginia on February 3, 1978, the daughter of Darlene Martin Reid, and the late Ronnie L. Reid.

In addition to her father, Sonya was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, James and Gladys Reid, and maternal grandparents, William and Hazel Martin.

Sonya was a member of Bible Way Holiness where she served as an Usher and sang with the choir. She was employed at ITG Brands Tobacco Co. for many years until her health declined. Sonya was a graduate of Martinsville Christian School.

Those left to cherish her precious memory include her mother, Darlene Martin Reid; two daughters, Ashley Gravely, and Briasha Gravely; one son, Rayshaun Gravely; one sister, Leine Holland; one brother, Ronald David Carter; two nephews, MaKinley and Vontae Gravely; one niece, Adisson Wade; and a host of other relatives, and friends.

A visitation services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. at Greater Love Ministries, 906 E. Church St., Martinsville with Bishop Avery Preston, Eulogist. Burial will follow at the Hairston Family Cemetery, Spencer, VA. A public viewing will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home of her son, Rayshaun Gravely, 505 Glendale St., Martinsville.
