MRS. MARY LUCY OGBURN COOKE, affectionately called "Ma Nanna", daughter of the late Charlie Robert and the late Matilda Johnson Ogburn, was born June 20, 1926 in Mecklenburg County, VA and departed this life February 15, 2023 at Dinwiddie Health and Rehab Center, Dinwiddie, VA. She was also preceded in death by her daughter- Gladys Cooke Coleman and siblings- Ed and Hardy Ogburn and Alto Fields.

At an early age Mary was baptized and joined Hayes Grove Baptist Church. She attended the Mecklenburg County Public Schools.

Mary was married to the late Oscar Cooke. After his departure from life, later she moved to Newark, NJ for employment. After a few years she decided to move back to Virginia.

Mary reaffirmed her membership at Greater Hayes Grove Baptist Church where she assisted with several of the auxiliaries of the church when she was needed until her health began to decline.

In her spare time she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing solitaire.

Mary leaves to mourn three children- Dorothy Meredith, Blackstone, VA; Lucy Cooke, South Hill, VA and Clarence (Carolyn) Cooke, Brodnax, VA; 11 grandchildren- Quindetta Cooke, Eddie Benjamin, Lashone Benjamin, Tonji Cooke, Marquis Jiggetts, Clarence Bugg, Vernesha Cooke, Calvin Bugg, Kamilia Jiggetts, Jason Bugg, and Jennifer Fields; 33 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one sister- Dora O. Hudgins, South Hill, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
