OPELOUSAS – Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA for Mr. George Burney, 78, who entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 2, 2023 in Port Allen, LA. Interment will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.

Rev. Frank L. Ford will be officiating the funeral service.

Mr. Burney leaves to cherish his memories: eight sisters, Annie Jones and Elsie Burney, both of Houston, TX, Patricia Frank and Barbara Washington, both of Beaumont, TX, Betty Hayes, Isabelle Alexander, Elzina Rickett of Clear Lake, TX and Loretta Anthony of Baytown, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mr. Burney is preceded in death by: his parents, Wallace Burney and Louise Lazard Burney; three brothers, Herman Burney, Samuel Burney and Lory Richard; and three sisters, Geneva Burney, Victoria Antoine and Dorothy Guidry.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home.
