He attended the Mecklenburg County Public Schools.

Richard was employed by Carter’s of Boydton, VA and later retired from Barkers Construction Company, South Hill, VA.

Family, right now our loss is so fresh, it's difficult to image the pain that is shared among us. But in time with God's blessing and unfailing grace we will be able to accept the hurt that we're feeling. Uncle Richard was a gentle giant always soft spoken and kind to all. We will miss him terribly but we must still embrace each other for support and lift each other up in prayers. I did get to take a picture of him about 2 months ago. He looked so good. He's healed in peace, comfort, and God's mercy. Love my family, Barbara Anne Brown Finley & Family.
