Mr. Mark Brooks

On February 12, 2023, Mark Nicholas Brooks gained his heavenly wings. Mark Brooks also known as “Bud and Nick” was born on May 12, 1985 to Gwyen Love and Willie M. Brooks. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Annie and James Stover and paternal grandparents, Matthew and Sally Brooks.

Nick was a 2003 graduate of High Point Central High School and attended NC A&T University. While there, Nick participated in the A&T marching band (The blue and gold machine). Bud was always a bright light and friendly presence everywhere he went; his smile would light up a room. In his formative years, Nick joined Gethsemane Baptist Church and served on the usher board, junior choir, and Sunday school. As a young man, Nick joined the Ray McCluney Voices of Praise, continuing his fellowship in church after becoming a young adult. Nick loved his church, especially his choir.

Nick was employed by Truist Bank as a customer service representative. He enjoyed his teammates, especially “Sade” and “Ashley”. In his spare time, Nick was an avid video gamer on the PlayStation network. He was a very competitive gamer who loved playing a variety of games. Nick was an avid sports fan as well; Some of the teams he rooted for was the UNC tar heels basketball team, and the Denver Broncos was his favorite NFL team.

Nick had a flair for fashion; always dressing to the nines and making sure his watch matched his outfit. His laughter and generosity will be missed by all those who knew him.

Nick leaves to cherish in his memory: mother, Gwyen and Nate Love who was like a second father; father Willie Brooks (Norma); brothers, Paul Gambill, III, Stephen Gambill,(loving sister-in-law Torri),Matthew Brooks, Tim Brooks; sisters, Nina and Veleka Brooks; bonus siblings include, brothers, Nathan Little, Lamarrius Love, Branyon Dockery, and one sister, Deonna Love; also noted various nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Homegoing service will be held Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 401 Wise Street. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting potted plants.

Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.

The family would like to express their gratitude for all the prayers, calls, and visits during this time of mourning.
