Obituary For Mrs. Barbara Ann Stubbs Hammond

Mrs. Barbara Ann Stubbs Hammond passed on Thursday, February 9, 2023. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2023 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Trice Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Salem Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery. Trice Funeral Home of Thomaston is in charge of all arrangements. Please keep the Stubbs and Hammond families in prayer. Mrs. Barbara Ann Stubbs Hammond was born on May 21, 1945, to the late Mrs. Mary Lee Dennis Smith and the late Mr. Otis Foster in Thomaston, Upson County, GA. She was educated in the Upson County School System. Barbara joined the Salem Baptist Church at an early age and continue throughout her lifetime. She served on the Usher Ministry and as a Deaconess. During her early womanhood, Barbara married Mr. Gus Stubbs, Jr. To their union, six children were born. To help support her family, she was employed by the William Carter Company as a sewer. After its closing, she was employed by LAT Sportswear and lastly at Wal-Mart as a greeter. Barbara found love again after the passing of her husband. On June 24, 2017, she married Mr. James Hammond, Jr. She enjoyed life, She loved dancing, talking, helping others, cooking for her family, and volunteering in the community. She was a member of the Love Club which was devoted to helping others. Barbara was preceded in death by her three children, Danny Lamar Stubbs, Christopher James Stubbs and Darren Neal Stubbs; daughter, Angela Bradshaw: and granddaughter, Marquita Mathis. On Thursday, February 9, 2023, the Lord called her name. She answered the call and went to her eternal home. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Deacon James Hammond, Jr. of Yatesville, GA; three children, Mr. Ronnie (Maxine) Stubbs of Roberta GA, Mr. Kenneth (Jeannette) Stubbs and Mrs. Vicki (Antonio) Hammond all of Macon, GA two step- children, Mr. Alton (Minister Diane) Hammond of Culloden, GA and Mr. Ed (Pam) Hammond of Thomaston, nineteen grandchildren and twenty three great- grandchildren; three sisters, Ms. Ida Smith and Mrs. Thedy (Johnathan) Leonard of Thomaston, GA, Mrs. Shirley (Raymond) Clark of CA; six brothers, Mr. Grady (Effie) Smith, Jr. Mr. James (Barnnetta) Smith, Mr. Mose (Linda) Smith, Mr. Kenneth (Mary Ann) Smith all of Thomaston, GA, Mr. Edward (Debra) Smith, Sr. of Culloden, GA and Mr. Joseph (Farah) Smith of Forsyth, Gal and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
