Memorial service for James Gilbert "Jim", "Skinner" 84, will be 1 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Anniston Funeral Service in the Russell H. Williams Memorial Chapel with Bishop Leroy Austin, officiating.

Mr. Gilbert passed away on January 24, 2023 at UAB Hospital, Birmingham. Mr. Gilbert was a member of Genesis Worship Center. He was employed at Hanger Hinge for many years.

Survivors include his daughters: Mary Richey, Christina Higgs, siblings: Johnie Gilbert, Sr., Harold Gilbert, Fannie P. Wiley, Cora Cobb, grandchildren: Kenyr and Kiara Richey, Alexander, Zierrie, Tianna and Brianna Marritt; 7 great grandchildren, special cousins: Diane D. Tate, Barbara Bynum, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, L.G. and Lillie Mae Davenport Gilbert, his wife, Portia Lee Gilbert, grandparents, Fannie Birdsong Young, Greene Young, Cisroe and Alice Arnold Gilbert, sibling, Jerry Gilbert, Gracie Gilbert Lee, Martha Gilbert Traylor, in-laws, Norris Lee, Sgt. George Cobb, jr., Reese Traylor, Edna Boyd Gilbert.
