Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 22, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Wrens Seventh Day Adventist Church, 504 Stapleton Highway, Wrens, GA. Interment will be held in Wrens Memorial Garden, Highway 80, Wrens, GA.
Public viewing will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 3:00 – 6:00 P.M.
Ms. Willie Mae Thomas received her formal education in the Burke County Public School System. Upon the death of her mother, she assumed the role of MOTHER to her eleven sisters and brothers nurturing them, loving them, and giving them the very best of everything that she had. She was a loving mother and sister, devoted grandmother and special aunt. Her many talents included growing flowers, cooking, baking – especially her sought-after sweet potato pies, professional housekeeping and laundry services.
Thirty-three years ago Ms. Willie Mae joined the Seventh-Day Adventist Church where she served faithfully on the usher board, hospitality committee and as a deaconess. She continued serving until the very last Sabbath. In her spirit of giving she also provided custodial services to the church until her health declined.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Larry Thomas and Lorenzo Thomas.
