Obituary For Mary Alice Alston

Mrs. Mary Alice Alston, 86, of Phenix City, AL passed Tuesday, January 17, 2023 in Phenix City, AL.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. EST, Monday, January 23, 2023 at New Central Baptist Church, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Jeffrey J. Dancy, Sr., pastor, officiating. Burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Phenix City, AL. Visitation is Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 1-4 p.m. EST.

Mrs. Alston known as "Little Bit", was born March 28, 1936 in Phenix City, AL to the late Robert Sumbry and the late Mildred Sumbry.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Central Baptist Church now known as New Central Missionary Baptist Church. She served in the Missionary Society, Vocal Choir, Golden Age Choir and Pastor's Aide.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Alston; two brothers, Wilson Sumbry, Sr. and Robert Sumbry, Jr.; one sister, Elizabeth Bellamy and one granddaughter, Joy Alston.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories eight children, Yvonne Alston, Teresa Alston, Loretta Pearce, Charles Alston (Bobbie Jean), Clinton Alston (Wanda), Clifford Alston (Janice), John Alston (Edith) and Deborah Alston-Long (Jerry); 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
