Obituary For Pastor Walter J. Hall

Celebration of Life Service for Pastor Walter J. Hall of Newnan, GA, will be Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 1:00PM; Zion Rest Church- The Heard Center, 2947 50th St., Valley, AL 36854.

Pastor Walter J. Hall is the former pastor of Rising Star Baptist Church and New Unity Missionary Baptist Church.

Interment: Rest Lawn Cemetery; 2098 Mooty Bridge Rd., Lagrange, GA.

A public viewing will be Friday, January 20, 2023, from 4:00PM - 6:00PM. A wake service will begin from 6:00PM -8:00PM; Hattie G Watkins Complex; Willie A. Watkins Historic West End Chapel, (404) 758-1731.

My greatest condolences to the Hall family for the loss of "Pastor Walter J. Hall." I am just learning of his passing. Pastor Hall was an anointed man of God. A man after the heart of God. I grew up under his leadership starting from Rising Star BC to New Unity Missionary Baptist Church. He taught me everything I know about the Word of God. Brought me from a Babe in Christ to a Minister of the Gospel. God placed me in Pastor's hands to prepare me for his call. It's never too late to say "Thank you" Pastor Hall. Just learned of Pastor Hall's passing. We are so happy that his path crossed with the Field Worker's Prayer Group under the leadership of Rev. Richard Colson located on MLK Jr, Drive in Atlanta GA. He faithfully served and used his musical talent as our Organist. He loved to sing the hymn "Amazing Grace." His love and outgoing personality will forever be cherished.

Paster Hall was a great man of GOD,and an inspiration. As a member of his Bible class 9 years ago,He would always let me know one of his favorite Bible verses was John ch 5:24. Our deepest condolences to the family & friends of Pastor Hall. He was such a sweet person & always cared for everyone. I am so honored to have been able to sing with him when he was in rehabilitation to help build his strength back up. We laughed, he played the piano & he prayed with me & my son. He was so happy to see us & we were both delighted to see him. My son called him Papa. I am so glad we have videos & pictures to remember him by. One thing I do know is he loved God. I have known Rev.Walter J.Hall,for over forty(40)years as pastor of Rising Star,and founder of New Unity as well.He was a great sermon builder and singer,a tall timber in the forest.He delivered the message for our Deacons/Deaconess Anniversary and blessed us again in 2015 at Chapel Hill Missionary Baptist Church.I will forever remember him as a friend who would come when needed and a bright light in a darkened world.Thanks my very good friend for the sermons preached and songs sang down through the years.Deacon Eugene Pitts

My eyes are filled with tears as I learn this news about Mr Hall! He and I became friends just 1 year ago, yet he, truly, was so very special to me. I visited often over the past year to assist him with telehealth appointments. His RN care manager and I adored our time spent caring for and conversing with him.
