Mrs. Annette Thomas, 91, of Columbus, GA passed Sunday, January 8, 2023 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m EST, Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Noble D. Williams, officiating. Burial will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 1-5 p.m. EST.

Annette Reese Thomas, affectionately known as “Meat” was born on June 2, 1931, in Russell County AL to Willie Reese and the late Annie Miles Reese. Annette was the oldest of 3 children born from this union.

She was united in matrimony to Peter Joseph Thomas on March 19, 1949. To this union, two devoted daughters, Earline and Annie Jean were born. She lived in Holy Trinity, AL and Phenix City, AL before moving to Columbus, GA in 1967 where she presently resided.

Mrs. Thomas joined Bethlehem Crossroads Baptist Church at an early age under the pastorate of Rev. Russell. Upon moving to Phenix City, she joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church (now Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church) under pastor J.C. Cook. She was a faithful and active member until her illness. She was active on the Usher Board and missions.

Mrs. Thomas worked as a dietary aide at St. Francis Hospital, retiring after over 50 years of employment. Annette loved to bake. This was her passion. She was also the best cook and had requests to bake cakes and pies every holiday. Annette was preceded in death by her loving parents, Willie and Annie Reese; husband, Peter Thomas; brother, Henry Reese and son-in-law, Johnny L. Gee, Jr.

Mrs. Annette Thomas is survived by her children, Earline T. Gee and Annie Jean Nance (Melvin) both of Columbus, GA; four grandchildren, Kristi Gee of Norcross, GA, Latoya Thomas, Kaleena Gee and Christopher Nance all of Columbus, GA; two great-grandchildren, Kaleil Pierce and Justin Thomas; sister, Irene Johnson of Willingsboro, NJ; two special nieces, Lillian Burside and Shirley Frazier both of New Jersey and nephew, Willie Taylor of New Jersey; as well as a host of other loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, in-laws, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Thomas is also survived by her special Sister Circle of Mary Catherine Brown, Minnie Brown, Annie Will Butler, Bertha Diggs, Alberta Holloway, Sarah Myers, Judy Thomas and Lottie Thornhill.
