Obituary For Dorothy Nell Person

Dorothy Nell Person, 69, of Salem, AL passed January 2, 2023 in Salem, AL.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST, Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Canaan A.M.E Church, Seale, AL with Rev. Vernon McLeod, officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, January 6, 2023 from 1-5 p.m. EST

Mrs. Dorothy Nell Person was born March 30, 1953 in Salem, AL to the late A.C. Miles, Sr. and Elizabeth Miles.

She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Canaan A.M.E Church in Opelika, AL where she served on the usher board, pastor aide and trustee board and as a faithful member until her health began to fail.

She was employed at Uniroyal Goodrich in Opelika, AL for several years until her retirement.

She leaves to cherish her memories three children, Tracy (Harold) Key of Salem, AL, Nicholas (Helen) Person of Columbus, GA and Stephanie (Marvin) Freeman of Salem, AL; five devoted grandchildren, Samaya Person, Nahyia Person, Jaylen Freeman, Te'marie Person and Alaya Freeman; two sisters, Alleana Smith of Marion, AL and Ozell Allen of Salem, AL; one aunt, Beauty Darty of Columbus, GA; three sisters-in-law, Sarah Nell Wright, Mary Alice Miles and Rose Allen Miles all of Salem, AL; two brothers-in-law, Norman Mercer and James Allen both of Salem, AL and a host of nieces, nephews and other close friends. Additional devoted caregivers, Evangelist Dorothy Freeman and Minister Demetria Jones.
