To My Big Bro... I'm hardly ever speechless...but learning of your passing took my breath away. You were one of the first people I met beneath thy maples and oaks, and you ALWAYS supported and took care of me throughout my matriculation at Livingstone College. I don't think either of us had a notion that our last conversation would be our final one. I find peace in knowing that you are now resting because your work on earth is complete. I came across the letter you typed me as I was leaving Salisbury for the first time...and I will cherish it...along with the many memories we shared. My condolences to the McNeil family, the LC family, and everyone who feels saddened by such a profound loss. Forever your Little Sis, Shinea C. Wright🙏🏾

To the Stephanie, family, and friends of Wayne, I offer my sincerest condolences as you mourn this tremendous loss. I vividly remember Wayne's smile, warm and upbeat personality, his love for Livingstone and his love for Kappa while he was a student. He always put a smile on my face because he had one or because he always had something positive to say. Although I didn't have the opportunity to know him duind his professional and educational pursuits, I can tell he touched many lives and was a tremendous impact to the community. God took His warrior to join Him in heaven and he will truly be missed but his spirit will live on in the many that he touched. My prayers are with you at this time. Rest in peace and power. Brother, you checked me when I need it the most. It brought me to understand what you were saying. You taught me how to be HUMBLE. I will truly miss you. Visiting you in the Hospital after being amputated gave me a perspective on life from what we discussed. Thank you and I Love you. My Man. You made me the Kappa Man I am today. You taught me commitment and Dedication. 17 Resurrektors of the Diamond #8 Texaspete "RedHot'.Maximillian Norwood

Gentle Giant with the most genuine of Bear Hugs. Big Wayne, I am still in shock. You are a magnificent force with the brightest smile and heart to match! Your presence will definitely be missed at homecomings to come and overall. You are a Man of Purpose & Impact and you fulfilled your charge. Rest Well, Young King! It is true what they say about Gentle Giants. I remember the many interactions we shared when you were a student at Livingstone College. Your calm persona, your winning smile, your kind ways and your giving spirit. I watched you develop into a man of service , competence and love. Little did I know, that God would take you to be with him so early. Your task on earth is complete. You are resting in His loving care where nothing else matters. No more sickness, no more pain. The memories of what I saw in you will live on in my mind for as long as I live. You are a Warrior King. Marjorie A. Kinard

Wayne, I admired your cool calm demeanor since I was a kid. I observed how collected you were and that was something I had in mind to mimic. I'm so glad our family was reacquainted with you this past year. A short time, but the impact of your presence was/is felt. We talked offline and you told me you always looked up to me even though I was younger than you. I guess it's easy to say you saw traces of yourself in me because I certainly modeled myself after you in some ways. I'm so sorry this life dealt you some tough blows. But I find solace in the rest you now have. Until we meet again, because we will meet again...I love you and am so proud of the legacy you've left behind. With all my heart, Tiara McNeil

To Stephanie and family, My sincere condolences to you all. He was a great man and I remember when he started IMPACT for the young men at Salisbury HS in which my son was a part of. He taught those boys discipline, how to be professionals, how to give back to the community, and now the majority of those young boys are men now and I am sure they still use what he taught them in the world today. Dr. McNeil rest in peace you finished the race here on earth now it is time for you to receive your crown and walk the streets of Gold. The Irving Family

To the family, and friends of coach Mcneil. Our farther, Lord has called his angel home to take his rest. Coach was a persih with a heart of gold. Many children in Salisbury prospered through his knowledge and wisdom to push as well as guide them to the next level in life. Coach McNeil was there for me and my daughter through her high school years and college years. She graduated from NCCU, and we always Thank him for everything. Coach was also there for my son. I will never forget getting a call from my son. You were loved Coach and you will be missed.

To Stephanie, the daughters, grandchildren, family, friends, fraternity brothers and all who knew and loved this wonderful specimen of a human being, The Moores of Salisbury, N.C. offer our heartfelt condolences. Webster's dictionary does not contain enough adjectives to describe this man. He was caring, compassionate, humble, thoughtful, generous to a fault, strong in the presence of adversity, malice toward none, snappy dresser, smelling good and the list goes on. I could always count on a "teddy bear" hug from him and a "Hello Sunshine". He in fact was the sunshine. Everyone who was in his presence felt his special warmth. I will remember him with fond memories but know he is now with The Son. May everyone who knew Dr. McNeil strive to model his goodness and greatness. Lovetta, Sh'Myra and Sh'Rae Moore

We were born as first cousins but grew up as brother and sister. Brother, you are going to be greatly missed as the younger generation was just getting to know you. I am glad we spoke that Friday before your transition. We both agreed we were going to heal together and continue to trust God through the process. I am forever grateful that God gave us an opportunity to reconnect and restore our love and friendship. I love hearing the stories on how you have impacted so many, both in the cities of Durham and Salisbury, by coaching and mentoring all those you came in contact with. This displays your life was not in vain. You did exactly what God called and anointed you to do. Well you are free now and you can take your rest. We will continue to honor your legacy and take care of Auntie. As it is written, Father let this cup pass from me, but nevertheless, not our will but God's Will has been done. Well done, Dr. Christopher Wayne McNeil! Love always your sister, Latasha Saunders Drake

It's so rare to meet someone that makes an impact in your life for a lifetime! Since 7th grade you have been very instrumental to my family and I! You were a father figure, mentor, an ear to listen without judgement, a shoulder to cry on and most importantly you gave those tight hugs when words weren't needed! I know it's hard not to question GOD but I know you are in heaven resting up! No more pain, no more doctor appointments, no more saying I'm ok just to be there for others.. This just hurts a little bit coach cause I've been waiting on you to respond back or just see that you saw I called or txt! I love you beyond words itself! I'm proud of everything that you have accomplished! I thank you for being that man we all needed in the city of Salisbury! This is not a good bye but a see you later! Please continue to watch over all of! We miss you dearly and those much needed hugs when we could not get those words out! I will continue to make you proud! To the McNeil family, we thank you for sharing coach with us! My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family! Saybah aka your Liberian daughter!
