Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. EST, Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Providence Baptist Church, Seale, AL with Rev. Felix Worthen pastor, officiating. Burial to follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL. Visitation is Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 12-5 p.m. EST.
Tray Bynam was born September 30, 1988 in Columbus, GA at the Columbus Medical Center to Ada and Charlie Bynam, Jr. He departed this realm into eternal life on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Northshore Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, IL.
Tray gave his life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Phillips Temple C.M.E Church in Phenix City, AL up until he left to join the United States Navy. He was a proud 2007 graduate of Central High School, Phenix City, AL.
Tray's best friend growing up and as an adult is his loving big brother, Jeremy Michael Bynam. They laughed together, cried together and celebrated each others accomplishments with a big hug and a joke.
Tray loved God, his family, job and helping his sailors. The Navy was his extended family for 15 years. They continued to help nurture, cheer and pray for him. His growth, intelligence, compassion and professionalism impacted many people throughout his career as Navy Career Counselor.
Tray was nominated Sailor of the Quarter in the Navy Times Magazine. He worked in the Navy Human Resources Department. He was nominated twice as hometown hero by his navy sailors which afforded him recognition at a professional Chicago Bears football game and a professional White Sox baseball game. His newest and final achievement was making CPO (Chief Petty Officer) a dream he worked hard to receive and achieve which made him extremely proud.
Tray lived his life in a way that made God smile and say "Well done thou good and faithful servant" Matthew 25:21.
Tray was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Sallie Mae Joseph and grandfather, Willie Lee Joseph who helped groom him into the extraordinary person everyone knew and loved.
Those left to cherish memories of Tray include his mother and step dad, Ada (Glamis Baldwin); father, Charlie Bynam, Jr.; loving brother, Jeremy Michael Bynam; two sisters, Christal and Kenya; paternal grandparents, Dorothy and Charlie Bynam, Sr.; uncles, Bruce Joseph, Howard Wazeerud-Din (Rasheeda), Don Joseph, Larry Joseph (Phyllis), Douglas Joseph (Hope), Andrew Joseph (Lisa), Travolta Bynam and Maurice Bynam; two aunts, Veronica and Victoria; four nieces, Jordan, Ashlyn, Jada and Chloe; one nephew, Cam Bynam; special cousins, Tabitha, Victoria, Dedra and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins many friends and his entire loving Navy family.
