Juanita Bell

Juanita Thompson Bell was born September 17, 1925 to the late Willie and Dana Thompson in Kosciusko, Mississippi. She was the oldest child of Willie and Dana Thompson.

Juanita professed her life in Christ early and was baptized at First Baptist Church in Kosciusko, Mississippi. She attended Attala County Training School. She later met and married her sweetheart, the late Fletcher D. Bell. They moved to Greenville MS. While Fletcher was inducted into the United States Army. To this union three children were born, Melvin, Diana, and Denise. The couple later moved to Greenwood where she attended and graduated from Bradley Cosmetology School. She became a licensed beautician. She owned and operated her own beauty shop and cafe. She also was a licensed battery dealer.

Juanita was a faithful and dedicated member of the Usher Board and Church Food Committee, Mission Treasury, Sunday School Teacher and many other capacities in the church until her health failed in her later years.

Mrs. Bell, affectionately known as "Big Mama", Aunt J. and Miss Juanita" by everyone who loved her deeply. She worked hard to care for her children, grandchildren, great grands and others in the community. Her door was always for dinner and there was plenty of delicious food for everyone. She was a compassionate, strong, wise, and loving person. She loved her family, church, cooking and spending time with family and friends. There was lots of laughter and love in her home.

She departed this life on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. Ms. Bell was preceded in death by her husband Fletcher (Sam) Bell. She lives to cherish her loving memory, a son, Melvin Demorris Bell (Patricia), Diana Micou (Ralph), Rev. Denise Henderson (Rollin), Grandchildren, Corey Fuller, Jeffrey, Andray, Rodney (deceased) Derrick Bell, Rodney Fuller, Claude Anton Fuller, Adrianne Henderson, Patrice Henderson, and Amber Bell, Great Grandchildren: Claude, DeShaun, Courtney, Rodney Jr., Rozlyn, C.J., Corey Jr., Kadeen, Rashad, Jasmine, Allea, Kyrie. Sisters, Deidre Reed (Mervin) Theresa Hines (Harold) and one brother Billy Thompson (Doris), Great-Great grandchild Kamari.
