James McClendon

JAMES EDWARD MCCLENDON (Fool, Fool), 73, son of Martha McClendon and the late Robert McClendon, Jr. was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

James was reared on the Westside Community of Steelton, Pennsylvania where he received his high school diploma through the Steelton Public School System. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving our country faithfully and in February of 1968 he fought in the Vietnam War where he received a purple heart. Once James returned, he spent his career with Pennsylvania State and Welfare Building where he would later retire.

James loved watching cowboy movies, flea marketing, playing poker, cards with his brothers, sons and nephews, but most of all spending time with his family. He was a diehard Philadelphia Eagles Fan and loved all sports, but his favorite pass time was going to watch his grandkids sporting events and spending time with them.

On Thursday, December 1, 2022, in the comfort of his home in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, James unexpectedly departed from this earthly life into eternal life where he will meet again his late wife, Rosalee Johnson McClendon.

In addition to his father and his wife, he is preceded in death by his son Taraja Williams; brother, Donald McClendon and grandchildren, Exie Jamison and Nyaire McClendon. James leaves behind to celebrate his life and to cherish precious memories to remain in their hearts forever, his daughters, Jennifer Plumber of Baltimore, Maryland, Nicole Johnson of St. Paul Minnesota and Yolanda Johnson of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; his sons, Anthony R. Johnson, James E. Horne, James A. McClendon, Jeremy McClendon and Jonathan McClendon; his mother, Martha McClendon, all of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; his sisters, Nancy McClendon, Margaritte McClendon and Darlene McClendon; his brothers, Robert McClendon, Orvile McClendon, Tyrone McClendon, all of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Dana Burnette of Minneapolis, Minnesota; his 26 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

His life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022 in the Chapel of the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton with viewing 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

COVID-19 Guidelines will be observed and mandated with face masks for all attendees.
