Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. EST Monday, November 14, 2022 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Willie Lyles, officiating. Burial to follow in Alexander Abercrombie Cemetery, Phenix City, AL. Visitation is Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 1-5 p.m. EST. Mr. Cecil Frank Carnes affectionately known as “Soul Dog”/"Granddaddy" was born April 25, 1947 to the late Andrew and Mary Alice Carnes.
He transitioned from this life on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 in Phenix City, AL. Cecil attended Mt. Olive High School in Ft. Mitchell, AL and worked at Faulk’s Wrecker Service as a wrecker driver for over 30 years until he retired.
Cecil was known for driving his cars fast, playing his loud music and his funny sense of humor. He loved his grandchildren like crazy especially his “boys”.
Cecil was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Dorothy Carnes; grandparents, Jimmy and Marie Lyles, Moses and Annabelle Thomas; three sisters, Vera Carnes, Virginia Carnes and Linda Chambers; three brothers, Andrew Carnes, Jr., James Carnes, and Roger Carnes.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife, JoAnn Brooks-Carnes; two daughters, Brenda Brown of Columbus, GA and Trudi Carnes of Phenix City, AL; six grandchildren, Tobias (Twanna) Lyles of Smith Station, AL, Brandon (Lyndia) Carnes of Phenix City, AL, Frank Carnes of Phenix City, AL, Jairus (Tiana) Lyles of Topeka, Kansas, Kimberly (Kindel) Alexander of Columbus, GA and Dorshandra “Babygirl” Carnes of Phenix City, AL.; one sister, Alberta Cotton of Phenix City, AL; two brothers, Walter (Lillie) Carnes of Phenix City, Willie B. (Bertina) Carnes of Columbus, GA; three sisters-in-law, Katie Carnes of Phenix City, AL, Faye Bell Smith of Ft. Mitchell, AL and Bula Thomas of Phenix City, AL; two brothers-in-law, Charlie Smith and Tommy Smith of Ft. Mitchell, AL; 23 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
