Stephen Wayne Sweat, 57 Passed away unexpectedly October 6, 2022 at Montecito Post Acute Care and Rehabilitation in Mesa, Arizona. He was born February 6, 1965, to the union of Susie Bates and the late George Sweat. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Hugh and Maria Bates and paternal grandparents, Edgar and Katie Sweat. Also an uncle who was a strong influence in his life, Neil Bates. He worked at Costco's and was a volunteer at the Salvation Army. He joined St. Paul AME Church in Richmond, KY before moving to Arizona. Steve attended and graduated from Madison High School, played sports and was a member of the school band. Upon graduation he joined the United States Army and was sent overseas during Desert Storm. Steve loved to fish and would help anyone. He developed a loving relationship with members of the Salvation Army in Mesa, Arizona. He assisted in helping set up games such as Bingo for those attending the Salvation Army. He was a die hard UK and Dallas Cowboy fan. In addition to his mother, Steve is survived by two sons, Steffon Baldwin and Christian Baldwin and, a granddaughter who he loved dearly Amaya, two sisters; Beverly Sweat and Georcette C. Sweat, three brothers, Anthony (Lisa) Sweat, Glen Sweat and George Sweat Jr., also left to honor Stephen’s memories are his step-siblings, Ernest (Debbie) Dobbins Jr, Xavier Dobbins, Theresa Dobbins, Brandon Dobbins, and Roger Gay, a great aunt, Pauline Todd, four aunts, Laura Gatewood, Edna (Emmitt) Igo, Annie (Perry) Black and Sarah Moran, two uncles, Jerry (Pam) Sweat and Charles (Deborah) Sweat and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members, Rex and Chris Stoddard.
