Tanya attended Anson County Schools and graduated from Anson High School. She continued her education starting initially with Winston-Salem State University and completed her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Tanya was studying to receive a Masters of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas Grantham.
Tanya was saved at Pelt Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church (Fayetteville, NC) in 1994. Her love and relationship with God grew immensely and she accepted her call into ministry. Tanya was ordained as a Deaconess at His Anointing Holiness Church (Hinesville, GA) in 1996 and ministered her initial sermon in 1998. She was elevated and licensed as an Evangelist at Miracle Deliverance Holiness Church (Columbia, SC) in 1999. Tanya diligently pursued her call for ministry at Chosen Generations Ministries (Newark, NJ) and Word of Truth International Christian Ministries (Belgium) through 2010. As an Elder, Tanya finalized her call to serve in ministry at Kingdom Life Christian Church (Williamsburg, VA) and Link Church (Charlotte, NC). Tanya served in all capacities of ministry, but mostly known for her servant leader roles in hospitality, pastoral care, administration, family assistance, and outreach.
Although she is no longer present in this world, she will always be remembered for her love for God, her family, her friends, and anyone else willing to experience her contagious laugh, unselfish love and fine Southern cuisines. Those left to cherish her memories are: her loving husband, Robert Smith Jr., whom she was married to for over 27 years; two children, Robert Smith III (aka Smitty) and Grace Smith; her mom, Rosa Dynet Brewer-Rorie; her father-in-law, Robert Smith Sr.; two brothers, Breguim Brewer (Sheila) and Christopher Rorie; three sisters: Holly Wear (Mikaayl), Christina Rorie Rose (Shaun) and Dinisha Rorie; one brother-in-law, Charles Smith Sr.; grandmother, Rosa Mae Brewer, multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, God-children, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The Services to Honor the Life, Legacy and Impact Elder Smith had on those she encountered through her travels and daily walk will be on Saturday, October 29, 2022, 4:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be private.
The Smith Family will greet family and friends on Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 3:30-4:00pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel.
The public viewing for Elder Smith will be on Friday, October 28, 2022 from 4:30-7:30pm at Smith's Funeral Home.
